As part of the
requested consultative projects delivered by the Arab Planning Institute (API)
for the benefit of Arab Countries, API organized a training program at its headquarters
in Kuwait on "Poverty
Reduction Strategies and Pro-Poor Fiscal Policies". The program was
delivered four times during the first period from 8/6 to 13/6/2013 and the second period from 15/6 to 20/6/2013. The training program was organized and
delivered for the benefit of the Ministry of Finance and National Economy in
the Republic of Sudan.
The training program
aimed at studying and assessing poverty in the Republic
of Sudan, in addition to analyzing
data of the consumer expenditure survey in order to assess indices of expenditure
distribution, and assessing objective poverty at the national as well as state
level in the republic of Sudan.
The program also aimed at studying the implications of financial and economic
policies on poverty and how to make them pro poor in order to alleviate poverty
through raising standards of living of the population and improve income
distribution.
