The Arab
Planning Institute (API) organized a workshop on "Official Capital Flows"
for the benefit of The Institute of Finance in Beirut,
Lebanon, during the
period from 13/5 to 17/5/2013
as part of a Professional Certificate delivered in Arab countries on "International Capital Flows".
The aim of the
workshop was to familiarize participants with economic development objectives
and the role of official aid flows in achieving such objectives. The workshop
analyzed the nature of the net flows accruing to Lebanon
as well as on the challenges created by the current political events. The
workshop also aimed to familiarize participants with the evaluation criteria used
to allocate international aid, and how to assess the efficiency of official
financial flows in the promotion of development. In addition, the workshop
permitted to learn issues related to official flows and debt crises, as well as
how to evaluate international initiatives to ease debt burden of developing
countries.
