In accordance with the arrangements made to provide technicalsupport to the Ministry of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman in the field ofdevelopment planning, a delegation from the API conducted an official missionto the city of Muscat between February 19 and 26, 2022. The delegation was ledby Dr. Walid Abdmoulah - Deputy Director of the Institute, Dr. Belkacem Laabas –Senior Advisor at the Institute, and Dr. Nawaf Abu Shammalah - Senior Expert atthe Institute, and Dr. Nihal Al-Mugharbel - Consultant in Planning andGovernance (member of the delegation from Egypt).
The main objective of the visit was to organize an intensiveworkshop for the Ministry's working team from various directorates, whichincluded the presentation and discussion of issues related to the indicativeplanning methodology, the institutional arrangements for the implementation ofthe 10th development plan, and the monitoring and evaluationprocedures, in addition to discussing areas of technical support for theSultanate in the areas of preparing a guide for development planning andmonitoring of the tenth development plan in the Sultanate 2021-2025, whichrepresents the first step in the implementation of the Vision 2040, as well asdiscussing the implementation of a specialized program to develop nationalplanning capacity in the Ministry and relevant authorities through thepreparation and implementation of a training of trainers program, TOT, in theareas that this guide will cover.
The delegation met with His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin MuhammadAl-Saqri - Minister of Economy, who opened the training workshop and praisedDr. Badr Othman Malallah – API Director General for his quick response forproviding all forms of technical support to the Sultanate of Oman.
The delegation held several meetings with the Ministry of Economy'steam headed by Mrs. Intisar bint Abdullah bin Mubarak Al-Wahaibi - DirectorGeneral of Development Planning at the Ministry. During these meetings, theMinistry's team presented the Sultanate's development Vision 2040 and theMinistry's efforts to implement the Tenth Development Plan 2021-2025. Theydiscussed a number of technical issues related to the methodology for theplanning guide that the Institute will prepare, as well as a number of otherareas of cooperation.
