The Arab Planning
Institute organized a training program entitled "Policies and Programs for
Supporting the knowledge economy and the digital economy in Qatar" in
cooperation with Qatar University for the benefit of the State of Qatar, during
the period 5/12 – 7/12/2021 in Doha.
The program aimed to
acquire the participants with the key concepts of the knowledge economy and the
digital economy, explain the measurement of knowledge economy, clarify its
relationship with economic development issues and discuss its role in achieving
comprehensive sustainable development in Qatar. The program explored the status
of the knowledge economy in Qatar and assessed the readiness of the country to
transform to a knowledge-based economy. In addition to providing participants
with necessary skills for calculating and analyzing the indicators of the
knowledge economy and the digital economy, as well as explaining the mechanisms
for designing and formulating policies and programs at macro, sectoral and
institutional levels aiming at building a knowledge-based economy benefiting
from successful international experiences in this field. The program debated
the role of the digital economy in stimulating economic growth in the State of
Qatar considering the COVID-19 pandemic repercussions.
