The
Arab Planning Institute (API) held an online interactive training program entitled
"The COVID-19 Pandemic and Its Implications for Labor Markets: Challenges
and Solutions” during the period from 8/3
to 10/3/2021 for the benefit of the Institute des Finances Basil
Fuleihan - Beirut, Lebanon.
The program aimed at identifying key required
knowledge and skills related to labor market analysis and the negative
repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic on employment, as well as on the labor
market policy structures. Furthermore, the program aimed at enabling
participants to evaluate the labor market policies that were initiated in
Lebanon and comparative countries to limit the repercussions of the pandemic. As
well as the analysis of the international best practices and applications to
stimulate employment, especially in times of crises, were identified by
applying to the case of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Moreover,
the program aimed at building and strengthening skills and capabilities, as
well as defining the roles and responsibilities of all development partners,
represented by government institutions, the private sector and civil society
institutions, in addition to international organizations, regarding employment
and creating jobs that achieve decent work standards.
