Arab Planning Institute organized a Training Program on
"Approaches to Future Studies" for the benefit of seniors of the
Ministry of Education in Jordan during the period of 14/12/2019 to 18/12/2019.
The program was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and
International Cooperation, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The training program aim was to train Senior participants on futures studies
(prospective) and introduce them to the most important scientific approaches
used in forward-looking studies and futures sciences. The programme began on
its first day by defining prospective and linking it to development issues and
the challenges faced by human beings. The program then focused on the
historical development of Futures Studies and how it began to address future
issues. The programme then shifted to the study of methodologies and tools used
in future studies to modern scientific approaches and compare them with
standard methods as well as the difference between foresight prediction and
projections and trend analyses.
Special emphasis was given to
the study of the Future of Education in
Jordan. First, a session on how to project population to the year 2050 and
calculate education needs was performed using SPECTRUM software. Then, series
of brain storming sessions were performed to build a future image of the
Jordanian Education System.
