The
Arab Planning Institute (API) organized a training program for the Palestinian
Economic Development and Reconstruction Council (PECDAR) on "Local
Development Policies and Decentralization Applications"
during the period 20-24/ 10/2019 in Amman - Jordan. The aim of the program is
to familiarize participants with the concept of development in general, local
development, its objectives, characteristics, requirements and challenges in
the State of Palestine, as well as the requirements and challenges of decentralization
and its role in local development. The aim of the program was to analyze and
evaluate the experience of municipalities in the State of Palestine and their
role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and to identify the
importance of the role of investment maps and the development observatory. The
program focused on presenting and discussing the requirements to enhance the
experience of the municipalities in the State of Palestine, as well as
identifying the entrances to human and institutional capacity development in
the municipalities and the importance of the transition towards e-municipality.
Finally, participants presented their views on the policies and programs needed
to promote the development of Palestinian municipalities.
