Planning Institute (API) has conducted a Training Program, entitled “Applications of Decentralization in Development
Management” upon a request from the Ministry of Planning and
International Cooperation, Amman - Jordan, 17 – 21 March, 2019.
The
training program aimed at providing the trainees with knowledge about the
concept and dimensions of decentralization and sustainable development, the
reality and challenges of decentralization in the management of sustainable
local development, and analysis of some decentralization applications in a
number of selected countries and their role in the development process. The
program also aimed to identify how to measure and analyze indicators of
decentralization, focusing on the Jordanian experience, especially in the
fields of education, health, infrastructure and financial decentralization, in
order to benefit from international experiences in promoting the efforts
towards the transition to greater decentralization in Jordan, especially in the
framework of legislation and recent local elections.
