API organized Workshop in United Arab Emirates


The Arab Planning Institute (API) organized a one day Workshop on Monday, June 1, 2015 on export development policies for the benefit of the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates. The objective of the workshop was to analyze export development in the United Arab Emirates and to evaluate the competitive environment, as well as the competitive capacity of the economy. The workshop also reviewed functional policies designed that are designed to have an impact across all sectors of the economy. The ultimate aim of these policies is to improve the business environment and reduce the extra costs of engaging in business, and to improve the country’s infrastructure and economic and financial stability and improving the efficiency of the economic and financial institutions. The workshop also assessed the competitive position of the UAE through a review of economic indicators and comparing them with a group of comparator countries. Export Development also need to employ a host of specific sectoral policies aimed at developing industrial clusters and expand participation in the global value chain through a conscious use of  selective industrial policies aimed at building productive and export capacity in sectors with  high technological  and knowledge contents.
