Representative of The Arab Planning Institute attended a 2 day workshop on the 9th round of the technical commission on trade liberation, globalization and development finance. The workshop was organized by the ESCWA in Amman, Jordan during the period of 7-8 April 2015. The workshop first proceeded by designing the members of the bureau of the current session. During the workshop period a number of background papers were presented and discussed. The papers were related to gap finance of sustainable development for the period 2015-2030. The paper revealed that a staggering 3.5 trillion Dollars are needed to cover the development finance needs of the region. A host of policies were recommended which are related to resource mobilization and expenditure efficiency. The second paper dealt with the issue of how to direst worker’s remittances toward investment. The third paper studies the issue of new financial tools in development finance. The paper concentrated on Green Sukuk. The representative of the Arab league in the UN and representative of DESA outlined the sustainable development challenges and the global process of negotiations regarding SDG and beyond 2015. The workshop ended by drafting a series of recommendations.
