A team of API experts organized a field trip to the southern governorates (Karak, Tafila, Maan, Akaba) during the period 1-5 February. The field visit is the first step of consultancy study on developing an investment map for the benefit of the Ministry of Planning and international cooperation in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The field visit aimed at collecting all relevant information and data related to the project. A series of meeting with local government decision makers were organized in order to evaluate the economic conditions of each governorate, as well as assess the competitive advantages of the local economies as well as their development challenges. During the first day of the mission, the API team met with the senior executives from different technical ministries that the duty of implementing government sectoral policies. The API team made a presentation on the project and how it intends to build the investment map. The executives stressed the need to address the issues of unemployment and poverty by proposing a clear road map that should be integrated in the government’s local development program. The rest of the mission was dedicated to meeting with the executives in each governorate where the team members discussed all the issues related to local development and how the investment map serves as a tool to promote investment and wealth creation.
