The Arab Planning Institute (API)
organized a study visit to The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation
(MOPIC) during the period 3-4 December, 2014. The Aim of the visit was to plan
and to prepare grounds for the launch of a consultancy study on investment map
for the southern governorates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. API experts team
met with high level representatives of MOPIC and agreed on the technical and
logistical requirements needed to carry out the study in a good terms and conditions.
The two parties agree that a field study will be carried out during the first week
of February 2015 where the team of experts will visit the southern governorates
and meet local officinal and the business community in order to explore and
identify investment opportunities and determine the clusters and activities
that will be selected for the development of the investment plan. The team met
also officials from the Jordan Investment authority who showed support and
readiness to back the team in the study of the Investment map. On the last day
of the visit the team also met Dr. Adnan Al-Janaby a member of the council of
advisers where the team listened to his experiences in the domain of economic development
of Jordan. Dr. Al-Janaby gave the team a detailed analysis of the economic and social
development of the southern governorates of Jordan and how the proposed investment
map should deal with its development challenges.
