The Arab Planning Institute (API) organized a Training Program on "Policies to Promote Competitiveness: International and Arab Experiences" for the benefit of the Tunisian Institute of Competitiveness and Quantitative Studies in Tunisia, during the period from 5/5 to 9/5/2014 as part of the Professional Certificate delivered in Arab countries on “Diversification and Economic Competitiveness”.
The aim of the workshop was to critically analyze the concept of competitiveness, and question its relation to development. The program also highlighted the difference between competitiveness environment and competitiveness capacity. Also it was demonstrated how the concept of national competitiveness is measured by composite indices, and the output and results of regional and global indices were amply discussed and analyzed. The program then shifted towards presenting different policies that are geared toward enhancing national competitiveness based on best practice and successful experiences. The last day of the program was reserved to workgroups presentations that analyzed the policy experiences of Tunisia.
